What is the Grit on Bona Fide Beauty Glass Nail Files

Bonafide Beauty premium Czech glass files are made in The Czech Republic from the best quality Czech glass. These are by far the best nail files for promoting nail care and strength and maintaining beautifully shaped nails.

We get a lot of customers asking us what is the grit of our glass nail file. When it comes to Czech glass nail files, defining grit in the classic sense is not as easy as it is with metal nail files. To explain, the various grit levels in typical metal nail files are similar to those of sandpaper, i.e. the higher the number the smoother the file or the number of pieces of grit per square inch.

In regards to Czech Glass Files, because the grit is formed out of the body of the file itself, and not manufactured then attached to the file separately like it is with metal files and emery boards. As a result, determining grit in a classic sense is a little more difficult. There are two grits in the Bona Fide Beauty range, both of which fall within a 240 grit range.

Bona Fide Beauty’s Standard Grit which is fine ~somewhat~ medium. It has a higher grit than most emery boards, but a lower grit than metal files, which are generally quite coarse and harsh on natural nails.

Some people have strong, thick nails while others may have fine, sensitive nails. While Bona Fide Beauty Czech glass nail files suit most nail types, everyone’s nails are different.

Our standard (fine~medium) grit suits most nail types and is very good for people with ‘normal’ or healthy nails. The abrasive surface of these files feels similar to the roughness of a cat’s tongue, an odd example but kind of accurate. We also offer files with a distinctly fine grit, which is most likely a 240 – 400 grit range. This grit is ideal for people with more fine, sensitive or fragile nails. The abrasive surface of this file feels like smooth glass, however, it still shapes the nails effectively.

Both the Standard and Fine grits are gentle on nails and super efficient when it comes to filing nails.
