Penn & Teller, Fool Us is a competition in magic television show where magicians perform tricks in front of American veteran duo Penn & Teller. The show`s first two seasons were hosted capably by Jonathan Ross, and the 3rd season after that was hosted by Alyson.
Each episode starts off by introducing the purpose of the series. Penn & Teller come out and sit down at the center stage. They watch the hopeful performers perform their act before them in front of a an audience in the studio. Following each performance, Penn & Teller privately discuss the show while the host questions the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal their knowledge of how the trick was executed, usually using cryptic language or noting down the procedure and presenting it privately to the magicians to confirm, the method, in order to avoid publicly exposing the methods behind the trick.
The tenth season will start filming October 17th, 2022.

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) as well as the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas (season two onward). After each performance, if Penn & Teller cannot figure out how the trick was accomplished, then the magician(s) who performed the trick win the Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight for a trip to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act in Penn & Teller`s show, in addition to The Rio Hotel & Casino.

For the first season, Jonathan Ross served as a temporary substitute for Penn and Teller`s hosting duties however, they returned for the next season.
It was filmed in Fountain Studios in London, England for the first season, before moving to the Penn & Teller Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada for the second season, and later seasons.
The magicians presenting tricks with Penn and Teller: Fool Us are typically skilled illusionists and sleight-of-hand artists. They typically make it more difficult to understand how their trick is done by performing their act in the dark or creating distraction through conversation or sound effects.

noted in his book, Penn & Teller do indeed have a close relationship with the magicians that appear on their show. Some magic acts, such as those by Joshua Jay are invited to join Penn & Teller`s Vegas magic show.
In season four, the top ten magicians who fooled Penn and Teller were invited back to appear on a special episode of Fool Us in which they each get the opportunity to perform their trick one again and attempt to fool Penn & Teller again for a further $20,000 cash prize. Performers are also asked to perform during the intermission during Penn Teller`s live Las Vegas show, where the audience members aren`t aware that the illusion is performed for them.
Although they remain quiet and motionless throughout the course during the performance, Penn and Teller will communicate with one with subtle gestures. They may also talk to a magician that performs and ask them to repeat an act or give more details.
